Fashion Trends for Fall 2011

 Fall is officially here even tough it doesn't feel like it since here in LA is still hot!!! anyhow these are just a few of my favorite fashion trends for this fall. I love that this fall is going to be filled with color, everyone need a little color in their life right?!?!

 60's Mod Retro anything with a boxy silhouette, or A line shapes or bold graphics.

The Peplum this instantly gives you an hour glass shape and it's very 50's I love it! 

Polka Dots, I have always loved polka dots and I am glad it still hasn't gone out of style

The Tuxedo look, this style has been around for a while ever since Yves Saint Larent bought this style back in the 60's. Now of course its more updated and more

Color Trouser: these made an appearance in the spring and has manage to make it into the fall/winter making this season more colorful!

Leather Skirt: i need to get my hands on one of course a faux leather skirt and some high waisted shorts.

Lace it will never go out of style, you can go wrong with lace. 

Slits are big this fall for gowns

Blue is going to be the color for this fall/winter. I love this color on my skin tone! you are also going to see a lot of emerald green and purple too.

The 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Best Dressed

These are my top 5 pick of the best dress on the night of the Emmy's, definitely the color of the night was red, there was a lot of gorgeous red gowns!

Ramblings and thoughts: Kids on leashes?!? trend or lazy parents?

Kids on leashes really?!?!? during my resent trip to the mall I notice this particular mom who had her kid on this harness type thing with a leash, I have seen these things before but this time it caught my attention more. This mom didn't have no control over her son not even with this leash type thing, he tried running off but his mom keep pulling on the leash it kinda looked painful every time she pulled, people were just staring it was a very awkward moment. To me leashes were meant for dogs or animals NOT kids!! I know parents are afraid of having their kids run off or wonder around at big places with a lot of people, but kids shouldn't be put on those leashes and it doesn't make it any better if the harness has your kids favorite character. These contraptions have been around for years but now it seems that it has become a more popular trend or maybe because its an easy or lazy way not to loose your child!...lol Instead of putting kids on leashes why don't you just teach them and tell them not wonder around or leave your sight in big crowds or when you go out kids do listen if you explain to them why they should or shouldn't do things, and teach them what to do if for any reason they get lost. Its always a good idea if you teach kids their parents name and maybe a phone number of course if they are old enough to talk and memorize. I remember when I was in kinder garden our teacher had us memorize of course our full names(cuz some kids answer by there nicknames) our address our phone number both our parents name if possible and our date of birth, we were told to only give this information if there was any kind of emergency. But anyways Parents don't put your kids on a leashes no matter how practical they seem, just teach your children to not wonder off when ever you go out. I remember my parents always holding my hand or telling me to not leave their sight when ever going out and I never got lost but I know not all kids are the same some are more wild than others, but hey! they are kids and they are supposed to run around scrape their knees and get dirty. Kids are supposed to do that and not be put on a leash and restrained to a point where they cant move.I am not a mom yet and I know people are going to say "what do I know about parenting?" yeah I may not know much about being a parent but I have babysat before from newborns to now teenagers so i know a thing or two but I know it's still doesn't beat having to be a parent and having sleepless nights, doing the impossible for your kids and putting your kids first over anything and anyone... so what are your toughs on these things should parents put their kids on leashes??? do you think its right?do you put your kids on leashes? and why?

Oh yeah the other day I was on the make up section at Target and a woman with two adorable kids one might of been a month old( he was soo tiny!) and the other about 3 years old...she approached me to ask my opinion on foundation, we had a 15 minute convo about foundation and make up in general. But what got my attention about this woman was that she was so well put together, she had on some skinny jeans and a cute lace top with some wedges. I know some women with kids complain that they don't have enough time to dress up or put a little make up on or something so simple as to showering. To me its just an excuse, I have friends who have kids and they do a million and one things in a day and still manage to look presentable. My mom was a working mom, she used to wake up at least an 1hr earlier every morning to shower, do her hair and make up, get dress, wake us up for school, made breakfast...etc  I know that I am not a mom yet, and I bet BS from people telling me that i don't know what it's like and what not..... But I think that some women like to make up excuses, how hard is it to put on a little mascara and lips stick and wear something that isn't sweats or Pj's. This woman I meat managed with two kids and a husband ( she had on a wedding band) why can other girls right?!?! then again no ones is perfect and that just my opinion on that. I was brought up to always look presentable.. I am so going to be a stylish mom just like Victoria Beckham but with my own twist...lol  by the way I loved her book That Extra Half an Inch its a must read it filled with hair, fashion, make up, pregnancy tips and so much more.

DIY: Off the shoulder top

Lately I been in the mood of sewing, I been doing a lot of simple projects that I plan on posting very soon.  I made a couple of flowy off the shoulder tops that are great for the summer, yeah summer is almost over but here in LA is not leaving any time soon yay!!! I love wearing light weight flowy tops just because with this heat i don want anything clinging or skin tight I want to be able to breath!!! also lately I been wearing a lot of off the shoulder tops, I love my shoulders and I show them off  anytime I can, I think its very feminine and sexy. You don't need too show your Ta-Ta's to look sexy your shoulders and collarbone are just as sexy! anyhow hope you enjoy this post. 

 First you need your fabric any knit fabric with a little spandex will do. Whenever you are using a striped fabric always make sure you match the stripes together it will make you garment look nicer. 

Next all you have to do is decide how long and how wide you want the top to be, I am usually a size small or medium, From the shoulder neck to the bottom hem mine is about 27" long (including seam allowance) the shoulders are 8" long, the sleeve opening is 8" The neckline is up to you depending on how much you want it to hang off your shoulder. The width of my top is 20.

If you are afraid of making a mistake on your fabric you can always first make a patter on paper with your measurements and then tracing it on the fabric, but this top doesn't need to be perfect, its not supposed to looked tailored nor perfect, its just a simple and casual flowy off the shoulder top. Just try to follow the shape of the picture below.....

Once you cut it and sew it, turn it right side out and it should look somrthing like this......

DIY: Americal Apparel Large Carry All Pouch

Recently I been using a lot of clutches and small purses, just because after years of hauling huge handbags weather it be for school or for everyday use, I got tired of it. I still love my oversize handbags but right now small purses and clutches are more convenient. A while back I was browsing through American Apparel and I saw they had different size leather pouches, I  really loved the large pouch because I can put as much and as little as I want and cant fold it vertically and horizontally. I am going to admit the price was a bit high, the large  pouch was around $50, yeah I wasn't going to spend $50 for a simple pouch that I can make myself. So I made one and didn't cost me a dime.....since I already had everything at home...lol

Price: $50

You can purchase it here they have them in different colors and sizes.

You will need:

• light weight leather or any medium to heavy weight fabric, I used suede.
• a zipper
• Optional: lining fabric

First you need to decide how small or big you want you pouch, I decided to make the large one so I cut my fabric into 12 1/2 and 16 1/2 that includes seam allowance. cut both the outer shell and the lining. 

Then you will create a zipper stopper using leftover fabric from the outer shell and sew it at both ends of the zipper, My zipper was too long so I had to cut it into 16 inches long, the lenght of the pouch.

and your zipper should look like this.....

Next I started by sewing the lining fabric first on the wrong side of the zipper. ( you are going to sew the side that is 16 1/2")

Here is a closer look....

Now you are going to sew the outer shell the same way as the lining but to the top side of the zipper.

Now you are going to fold the lining right rides together, do the same with the outer shell fold right side together and sew all around. Leave an opening on the lining only so you can turn the pouch right side out, after you have turn it right side out hand stitch or sew on the machine the opening close.

closer look at the opening, the opening should be about 4 inches depending on the thickness of the outer shell fabric.

Premios Juventud 2011

Quick post on my favorite best dress of  Premios Juventud 2011, For those who don't know Premios Juventud are like a Teen Choice awards but less kiddish a bit more MTV. The host were Blanca Soto and William Levy!!!! ahhh

OK so everyone was shocked when they saw William Levy bald oh well its not the first time one of my men shaved their locks but no matter what you have to support them all the way.....but I prefer him with hair, but no matter what he does he will always be fine!!!!  The reason for his shave head is because he is going to be acting in a movie and leaving Novelas(soap operas) behind for a while.You are going to hear a lot about him from me because I am in love with him (just like most girls) yeah he is obviously hot, his smile melts anyone and the way his eyes look at you make you want to say yes to everything...lol I also love his style.... and for those who don't know much about him No he did get to host the awards because of the whole J.Lo thing, he was famous prior to working with J.Lo in fact J.Lo had to pay him lots of ZEROS in order for him to cone out briefly in her music video...so don't listen to what TMZ says they are always on top of things but this time it looks like they didn't do much research!!!.......so enough of me rambling and on too..... 

 My Top Favorite Look of the Night

Alejandra Espinoza Nuestra Belleza Latina 2007 in a creation of Rosita Hurtado a bolivian designer. orange is a big trend this summer as well as color blocking and I am all over it, I am obsessed with orange,coral or anything that resembles orange. I love how her hair is up in side fishtail braid giving her a more laid back look for this type of event.   

 Ana Patricia González Nuestra Belleza Latina 2010. Just like I love bright colors I love this blush pink. I like the different details of this dress and how is very flirty and girly. The only thing i would change of the whole outfit would be the necklace since the dress already has a lot of detail something much smaller and less busy. 

 Blanca Soto (actress) and was one of the host at the awards show. Sequin and anything shiny is still in. I love how it looks on her and pulled it off  with her long lean figure...she is pretty tall! she also keeped it simple with her accessories since the dress already shines on its own she didn't need much, and if I am not mistaking Kim Kardashian also wore this dress, I believe I saw a picture of it in Kardashian Konfidential. 

Maite Perroni (actress and singer) Color blocking again! I love it, the dress is pretty simple with a peplum that is longer at the back. how hot are those shoes. the only thing missing is some accessories not much but maybe some earings or bangles would of completed her look.

 Lourdes Stephen (TV Host) I also loved this dress basically because of the hardware at the shoulder and the color is ideal for this summer and the one shoulder dress is here to stay! She also tried to do the whole color blocking thing and added purple shoes, I wouldn't of added those shoes simply because they look kind of dull and since the dress had that gold hardware it kinda didn't balance well together. Maybe it would of look much better if  it didn't had the hardware and the shoes would be a little more vibrant. I also think that if  her hair would of been up in pony tail or an half up do it would show off the dress more and lost the pearl bracelet it would of been PERFECTION!!!

 Fanny Lu(singer) in a creation of The Blonds(Phillipe and David Blond) alot of celebrities have worn their great creations like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, Rhianna, Fergi, Sarah Jessica Parker and many more. Some didn't like it, maybe because they didn't understand it, regardless I loved it! I am into the while hardware thing and all of The Blonds creation are gorgeous! 

 Dulce María (actress and singer) This year she socked everyone because in the past she has always managed to to make it in the worst dresses list, but this year it look like she managed to get a stylist and he did a great job with this white one shoulder asymmetrical dress, she took the night and won an award for the best dresses of the night! 

Now On To The Men

 Pittbull, Mr.305, Mr. Worldwide...Dale!!!...lol just in case you didn't know who he was...lol and if you still don't you probably live under a rock! I love Pitbull he has a unique style and he styles himself, he know what fits him and what look good. He is on trend because he is wearing a striped orange shirt and orange is in this summer and I believe its also going to make it to the fall. The white linen pants ( i am not really sure but the look  pretty sheer) were great for the hot and humid weather in Florida

 William Levy(Actor) in Dolce and Gabbana, what can I say about this man everything looks good on him and I am not just saying that because I am in love with him! but because he wears the clothes, the clothes don't wear him and it helps that he was a model before he became an actor. The where many men that night the wore this type of jacket  I saw it in different tones of gray even a pink one with the black outline on the lapel and bottom part of the jacket. He pair it up with the matching vest and a simple white button down shirt. Men if you are going for a more casual and lay back look always unbutton one or two buttons on you shirt.

Prince Royce (singer) as you can see his signature thing is the fedora, I like that he is wearing the same color just in different hues and he mixed different textures and he did it quite well. You cant see in the picture but since he is young he decided to add some nice sneakers to his out fit and that sometimes can be a little tricky but he pulled it off .

Pee Wee (Singer and Actor) I believe in a mix of Versace and Dolce and Gabbana *correct me if I am wrong* He also won the award of the best dressed of the night. I have seen that the trend of the jacket in a satin material had been growing, personally I like this jacket because its fitted and the fabric isn't too shiny like others I have seen witch looks too tacky., but this is perfect he matched it up with some white pants witch i saw alot men wear them and a simple V neck T-Shirt.

Alejandro Chabán (Actor and Motivator) jacket by bolivian designer Rosita Hurtado. This guy has a great story he went from Fatty to Hottie and he motives young people to eat healthy and stay in shape in a healthy way. He went with a more formal look but still looks kind of laid back  as you can see hes is also wearing a fitting jacket with black outline on the lapel and a simple white button down.

 Aarón Díaz (Actor and Singer?!?! yeah believe me he should just focus on acting)...lol  He has a very laid back look again a fitted jacket with a white wife beater and pants. The vintage boots for me were a little too much , i love vintage but I don't think it works for this look.
