Color Denim

Well who hasn't seen color denim lately?!?! its everywhere this spring season but color pants or denim have been around for a couple of seasons now. This spring color denim is going to be even bigger with all the new pastels colors and of course there will be a lot bright colors as well. I am pretty sure  you have seen a nameless list of celebrities wearing them and its a must have this spring and coming summer season. It definitely changes the look of the regular denim jeans. I know for a couple of people  the bright colors can be quite intimidating specially in pants. Don't be afraid to experiment with color, If you are wearing color pants for the first time start by using neutral color tops and shoes, white or black tops. But if you are a little more daring you can experiment with print tops, you can also try color blocking! I believe there are no rules in fashion yes there are principles to fashion but never rules to follow, fashion is about creating and being unique and standing out in the crowed and rocking it like it nobodys business!...lol ......I'll leave you with a couple of pictures of different color denim and celebrities wearing them too!

Here is a great and simple example on how to wear and accessorize with color jeans with out going overboard with color
You can find color denim at most stores or online at different price rages. You can find similar mint jeans (Here) and other bright colors of course!

DIY: Bodycon Skirt Part 2

OK so I know I already posted a DIY for a bodycon skirt, but it really wasn't very detailed. So this time around  I hope you can follow along a bit better, This time I took the time to actually take pictures of most of the steps, hope the visual helps... and if you make your own bodycon skirt I would love to see it! email me a pictures (my email address its on the About Me section to your left) or on Twitter @arianascloset
*NOTE: I used a vintage skirt(from my mom) as a pattern. It fits me perfectly! but if you don't have a skirt that fits you well you will need to make a pattern with your waist, hip measurements and decide how long you want your skirt. Make sure you leave at least 1/2" of ease besides the seam allowance.

  • First of course you will need any stretchy fabric preferably a Jersey Knit
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • A sewing machine or a serger

First I took my fabric and folded in half, I lay down my pattern (skirt) 1/2" away from the fold and pinned it to the fabric.

Before you start cutting make sure you have left at least 1/2" of seam allowance in the side seams and at least 3/4" for the hem...after you double checked you have your seam allowance go on ahead and cut the fabric.

Since the waistband has to be on the fold you will have to cut another one , so you will end up with 2 waistbands, your front and back.

So these will be your pieces: a front and back skirt and front and back waistband.

Now that you have your pieces cut out your are ready to start sewing. first fold the waistband wrong sides together

Pin the waistband to the waist of the skirt and sew a straight stitch. After you sew a straight stitch sew a zig-zag stitch on the raw edge just to give it a cleaner look. If you have a serger you don't have to worry on cleaning the raw edge.☺

Now that you sewed the waistband to the one side of the skirt you will do the same to the other side. Example: This is the front of the skirt now you will do the same to the back.

Once you have sewed  the waistband to both front and back skirt, you will place both pieces right sides together and sew the side seams. first sew a straight stitch then sewing a zig-zag stitch on the raw edges, Finally sew the hemline and you are done!

                                                                      The finish product...

I also made a  leopard print skirt.

It kinda reminds me of the one that Kim Kardashian is wearing in this picture....
